Alone with eight billion others around you.

Have you ever had the feeling, that you are completely alone? No one around you that cares for you? No one by your side to support you when you need it? No one there who pushes you to your limits. Just you alone.

Some people, crave to have others around them. To be surrounded by friends and family. Those who are afraid of the thought to be alone. They need the constant feeling of the presence of others around them, at any time of day. For those people, it’s a scary thought to lose their friends and family. To be completely alone.

It’s during those times that they feel alive. They have the feeling of being loved and worshiped by others. They need them in their lives. Everyone needs someone in their lives. Friends and family are an important piece of you. They make you complete.

Then there are times, everyone has those feelings sometimes, that you need to be alone. That you need to be at a place where silence and rest are within reach. It’s at those moments that you can think about everything that happened in your life. Our own little private space. A place where our thoughts can come to rest and put things into perspective. A place where no one else but you is allowed to come.

Some people need those moments more than others. And then there is another group of people. Those who want to be alone all the time. Why do they need that? Why are they more comfortable alone, than when there are friends and family surrounding them? In the modern-day language, these people are often called: loners. Why are they called like that? Is it some sort of swear word against them, because the other people don’t understand why they are alone? Is it perhaps maybe because for them the feeling of being alone is a scary feeling? It’s often known that people are most afraid of that, which they don’t understand or what seems different to them. Well, let me assure you, the people who crave to be alone, the so-called loners, are just like you and me. the only difference is that they don’t need anyone around to be happy. They find peace and happiness all by themselves, and perhaps even more so when they are all alone.

For them, it’s a way of living. A way of life that comforts them and suits them best. It’s at those moments that they are feeling like a fish in the water. They are not unhappy, because they are alone. They are happy because they can be whoever they want to be. They are happy because they can go wherever they want to go, without having to check what their relatives think about it.

Perhaps, there is another name for this group of people: The Dreamers. These people do what they want to do whenever they wanna do it. They are with many amongst us, not just unknown and unfamiliar faces. Even some well-known names are- or were in their lives, known as dreamers. One of the most famous dreamers of them all probably was: Walt Disney. He had a talent for turning his dreams into reality, in the form of his movies and he therefore was, and still is a great inspiration for many people around the globe.

So when it comes to being alone, and you think: “How can I do that?”, just look inside your heart and your mind. Do you have dreams and expectations you wish to see fulfilled.? Go for it with all your heart. You alone are capable of realizing those in your own life. You just need to believe in yourself and say: “I can do this!”

Ever thought about going on vacation, all on your own? Does that thought scare you? Before I myself, went on vacation all on my own for the very first time, this thought scared me too. The trick is: Just do It. When I was on vacation the very first time, I had a harsh moment too. There was a moment, after being on a ship for an entire week with a small group of people who instantly became friends, that I was completely alone in a country far, far away from home. At this moment, I felt lonely for the very first time during this vacation. Heck, I even cried my soul out that day. All I wanted was to take a flight back home. Do you know what got me out of this clenching feeling? Me, just me. There was a moment when I gave myself a figurative boost and said: “Come on man, you still have an entire week of vacation here, just go and make the best of it.” I got out of my bed, took my writing gear with me, and decided to go for a walk, that lead me to the harbor. It was at that moment that I realized something important. In order to get what you want to achieve in life, Sometimes you need to give up something in return. During that day, I did exactly that. I gave up my feeling of being afraid of something new and learned to embrace it. And that’s exactly the advice I want to give all of you. Whenever something new and challenging comes along on your path, do not run away from it, but tell yourself that it comes to you as a gift from heaven.
