Alone with eight billion others around you part four: As time goes by

Alone with eight billion others around you

Alone with eight billion others around you part four: As time goes by.

As time goes by, and we get older, we learn to appreciate the little things in life much more. They gain more value. Your family and friends, your job, your loved ones. They are part of our lives.

Some things will never change, while other things continue to change constantly.

In the past couple of years, we’ve seen many changes. We’ve seen science and technology evolving at a very fast pace. The life we were used to living before the pandemic came to a sudden hold and a huge rearrangement needed to be urgently introduced.

People got stuck in their houses and were shut down from the community. New ways of communication needed to be introduced on urgent requests, so that life could continue going on in a somewhat comfortable way for us.

We made it through this incredibly difficult time. A difficult journey that brought us to where we are today. A reminder that we, as humans are capable of doing anything we want if we just keep focused on the goal.

It was during those times that I realized that I felt more comfortable alone. Let me tell you all a little secret here. Five years ago, I lost my girlfriend. She committed suicide for reasons unknown. I was devastated at the time I learned about her death.

I came back into reality and got back on my feet with the help of my friends and family, and it was back then that I realized that I was made to be alone. Alone with eight billion others around me. Doing the things I liked to do, without having to watch after someone else.

I love that new life. I feel like I don’t need a relationship to make me feel complete. When I’m alone with eight billion others around me, and I can do everything I want, that’s when I feel like I’m the luckiest person alive.
