A village under the stars, chapter four: Bridge to the suburbs.

‘Every town, village, or city deserves a monument. A state-of-the-art building that marks the city. It’s what the neighborhood is proud to have as a part of their life, and brings value to the village.

In the past, there have been built many of those monuments all around planet earth. They are the reminders of past events, they have made the cities unique, and they brought life into the world. Some of those monuments are built as honorable reminders and bring peace and happiness into people’s lives. That is why they all have a powerful meaning to the world and its people.’

Zandr closed his book and stared with not-seeing eyes right in front of him. In his mind, he was thinking about building something similar to what he’d just seen and read about.

“The humans of planet earth sure are creative minds.” He thought and with the picture of a stunning bridge in mind, Zandr laid down and fell asleep softly.

In the middle of the night, he woke back up and got out of bed. His mind had been brainstorming the entire time and he just had gained a brilliant idea. He took the book back with him and went through the pages quickly, then suddenly he stopped at a page that caught his attention immediately. There it was the picture of the bridge he had been seeing in his thoughts all the time.

He walked to his window and looked outside, towards an open space hovering over the water.

“That’s it!” He said in amazement and went outside to take a better look at the place itself. It was huge and empty, but in his thoughts, he was filling the place up entirely.

He woke back from his trance, took one last look at the place itself, and then headed to the village square with a pencil and paper and started working out his plan.

It took only one day to complete the picture he had in mind and started working on the bridge, in reality, the next day.

The first part went well, it took only a couple of hours to finish the structure of the bridge. But finalizing the monument was a bit more challenging.

It took days to get the right idea for making the bridge complete. The first thought that Zandr had, quickly went from draft to the recycle bin, and so were the next ideas too.

Days passed by while he brought his ideas to life, and erased them again. Evening after evening, he worked out new plans and most of them turned out to be nothing.

Exhausted and desperate he decided to give it a strike for a couple of days. He went to the other side of the land to see what he could do there and gained some ideas, which he wrote down in his scratch book.

One morning he woke up and even decided to flip the script entirely. ‘A break from building would be good too.’ He thought and when he went flying with his ship through the galaxy, he noticed some new ships flying around. So Zandr decided to put his thoughts on that one too. Maybe that wasn’t such a bad decision, cause when he arrived back at the town square with his new ship, he saw the bridge lingering again and suddenly he saw the picture in front of him.

Immediately he started working on this new plan. Without even one picture drawn from it, just the picture he had in his mind.

It took another couple of hours, but then it finally turned out to be something he was proud of.

The bridge was now officially open for traffic.

Overlooking the bridge from the top of the mountain, Zandr felt proud to see what he had built. A monument that suited Etely Mountain perfectly.
