WELSH WONDERS THE RUSTY NUTZ TO RELEASE A NEW ALBUM ON AUGUST 1, ON A WORLD RECORD AMOUNT OF 21 FORMATS.

Welsh five-piece post poetic rockers The Rusty Nutz announce the release of their debut album, the modestly titled, ‘We Tried To Make It Big But Something Somewhere Went Wrong And We Can’t Work Out What That Something Is’. The forthcoming album is a collection of 11 obscurely themed anthems, an uplifting yet somewhat dark soundtrack to the Summer.

To celebrate the release, the Nutz will be releasing their album on a world record amount of formats, 21 in total, via Welsh-based label Lavender Sweep Records, with pre-orders for each format going live every Friday until the album’s release date. The formats range from your standard CD, Vinyl, and Cassette to the more obsolete analog formats like Reel To Reel, Elcaset, and 8 Track to the even weirder formats such as DCC Cassette, Beta Hifi/PCM Tape, and NT Cassette (the world’s smallest cassette).

‘We Tried…’ an album title that sums up the bands’ collective attempts at success, is composed of 11 tracks blending various styles and themes. Some of the highlights include the dark and brooding album opener ‘Johnny Siwmper’, which not only pays tribute but warns of a mysterious jumper stealing thief that has stalked the area of South Wales since the 1960s, ‘Man Of A Surfboard’, an uplifting anthem, highlighting a character who is not only a threat to himself but everyone in the vicinity when he climbs onto a board, ‘Point Me In The Direction Of The Nearest Hyper Value Store’, a poignant string-driven tribute to the legendary Welsh cut-price store Hyper Value, ‘Sniper’, an intense all-out punk scream along, paying tribute to the Swansea Bay Snipers Marbles Team and ‘We Tried…’  the trippy hypnotic title track, with an outro so big that’ll make even the strongest hip roof off.

“We Tried, is a melting pot of styles and influences. Musically, I think it is a perfect representation of what we are about and lyrically, it’s inspired by the often-ignored bizarre and surreal world that goes on around us.” – Vocalist Ant Jones, who is looking forward to finally unleashing the album onto the world.

The band recorded the album in their home city of Swansea (Wales, UK), mostly at the Sound Surgery Studio, before it was mixed by Matt Williams (frontman of Sigiriya/Suns Of Thunder/HWDU/Bad Electric) and mastered by Martin Nichols at The Whitehouse in Weston-Super-Mare. The incredibly detailed artwork was created by Paul Phillips (True Spilt Milk Designs).

“I liked the idea of failure beyond your control, something which every band has faced. Being in bands is tough, it’s a constant battle to move forward while things go wrong, broken equipment, theft, etc. The band and I liked the idea of going to go play a show only for the vehicle to combust with all the instruments in. We thought it was funny that the album title pertains to the fact they don’t know what stopped their success even though the blazing vehicle is right there in front of them.” – Paul Phillips (True Spilt Milk Designs, album cover artist)
