The start of something beautiful. This is the first chapter of a new story.

“Noah! I’m open! Pass me the ball!” Samuel yelled while he ran towards the goal. Noah saw him doing that, and he passed the ball through the legs from his opponent, right into Samuel’s feet. When he got closer to the keeper, he hesitated a fraction of a second, then shot and scored. 
 
His teammates all cheered loudly when he did that and celebrated together. Many of the boys and girls were just hanging around and looked up when they heard the cheering noises on the side of the field. Lilly, who was sitting at the bench nearby with her friends, also cheered with them and yelled: “Go for it, Noah!” 
 
When Noah heard that, he turned his head towards her, and she smiled softly, causing that Noah gained a bit red. He smiled back softly towards her and then turned his away quickly and ran towards the other side of the field. 
 
The guys were still all cheering when the match resumed. A couple of minutes later, Noah also scored a goal, and Lilly sheered even more loudly than before. Her friends started giggling when she did that, and she turned towards them. “What’s wrong?” She asked. “Are you in love with Noah?” Amy asked. This time it was Lilly’s turn to gain red cheeks. “Maybe a bit.” She said softly, causing that the rest of the group started giggling even louder. 
 
Samuel, who had heard them all laughing, went up to them and said: “Do you mind? We’re playing soccer here, not a play from Romeo and Juliet or something.” “We can sit wherever we want!” Lilly replied, and Samuel chuckled. The rest of the boys now also gathered together with them, and Samuel said: “This is the soccer field; it’s boys territory here. Why don’t you go sit over there.” He pointed towards the sandpit, where only two guys were playing, and everyone looked over there while Samuel pointed his finger at it. 
 
The guys chuckled again, and Lilly stood up and said: “So you think you’re the toughest one around here, huh? Girls can play soccer too, you know.” She took the ball out of Samuel’s hand and started dribbling around the field. While she does this, she passes almost all the guys. The girls all cheered loudly for her while Lilly kept going on. She gained confidence while dribbling and passed the same group of guys again, with a grin on her face. She had only forgotten about one other guy, just this once in her life. While getting the ball through one of the guys’ legs, she went on backward and bumped into Noah. 
 
She fell over and smacked her knee to the ground, causing her to scream out of pain. Noah’s grin from stopping her suddenly went from upwards to downwards. He quickly went over towards her and said: “I am so sorry. Are you hurt?” Lilly got tears in her eyes from pain and nodded. “Can you stand?” He asked and reached out his hand so that he could help her up. 
 
When she took his hand, they looked into each other’s eyes, and that was the moment that Noah saw it for the first time in his life. Beautiful blue eyes, in which he sank away for a moment. He gained a smile on his face, and the same thing happened with Lilly. He woke back up out of this trance and helped her up. She put her arm around his shoulder, and together they got to the school nurse. 
 
When they got there, Lilly explains what happened. She looked at Noah, and he said: “I am sorry. That was certainly not on purpose.” A smile appeared on Lilly’s face when she heard those words. Noah also smiled softly to her, and she reached out her hand while lying on the bench. Noah hesitated for a split second, then took her hand, and to both of them, this felt like a magical feeling. The smile on both faces became even bigger, and when they looked into each other’s eyes, that same feeling returned as they felt earlier while doing this. Lilly’s cheeks turned a bit red at the exact moment, and Noah started to feel a bit nervous. 
 
They quickly turned away their gazes and looked both at the other side. Another couple of minutes went by in silence; then the nurse broke this one by saying: “All cleared. You’re going to be back to the old you in no time.” Lilly turned her head up and saw the bandage around her knee. She tried to stand up but almost fell over due to the pain she still felt. Luckily, Noah was quick enough to catch her. She placed her arm around his shoulder again, and together they headed back to the playground. 
 
“Thank you so much for helping me,” Lilly said on their way back to the bench where she was sitting earlier. “You don’t have to thank me for that. It was, after all, my fault. So this was the least I could do.” Noah replied. 
 
When they arrived back at the soccer field, Noah helped Lilly sit down and sat aside her. “You did a great thing back on the field earlier. I was wrong. Girls CAN play soccer.” Hearing those words, Lilly gained a smile on her face. She had always had a special feeling for Noah, but that feeling became even stronger after what happened today. “I think I love you.” She said without thinking it over. Noah looked up to her with a surprised face. “I’m sorry, it just came out of my mouth. I didn’t even think about it.” Lilly said when she saw his face. She gained red cheeks and turned away her face, but then, something happened that changed her entire day. 
 
Noah took her hand, he squeezed her hand softly, and when Lilly felt this, she turned her head back to Noah. He looked up to her and said: “I think I love you too.” When Lilly heard those words, A smile appeared on her face, and it felt to her as if, for a moment, she was flying. They came closer towards each other without even realizing it. While Lilly closed her eyes, Noah opened his and kissed her on her cheek. 
 
The moment his lips touched her cheek, a shiver ran over both their spines. A shiver that felt good for the very first time, and Noah and Lilly slowly started realizing that everything that had happened today was no coincidence but destiny. At least, that’s how it felt to both of them: The start of something beautiful.
