When you hear the name Pene Corrida, you might think of something exotic. Perhaps a tequila-like-shot-drink, or a traditional Mexican meal?
Well it might be all of that, but Pene Corrida is also known as a metal band that brings party songs in their own way. They did it once, twice, thrice… Heck, they do it over and over again.
It’s a band that has the ability to turn a place upside down and they’re not afraid to do so. Especially when they play a show in their own natural habitat. Uden, for example.
Uden is a small town in the province of North Brabant, and not far away from Eindhoven and Tilburg. If you’ve never been there before or even had heard of Uden, you should definitely go there once. It’s not a big city, but it has very much beauty of its own and the people that live there will give you a warm welcome. Pene Corrida are not from there however. They are settled in Dordrecht, but with their talents they had the right possibilities to play at many other stages before.
Pene Corrida is naturally known for their power to transform great songs into legendary covers. Songs varying from ‘Blood Sugar’ by Pendulum (with which they have opened their set), going all the way to ‘Salsa Tequila’ by Anders Nilsen. It’s a list that guarantees partying throughout their entire set.
Scream and shout by Will .i. Am, uptown funk with hard rock influences, sexy and I know it with metal vibes and ending it up with Fireball by Pitbull… It’s just a couple of the songs they play just to get the party started.
What can I say; Pene Corrida has it all. All their songs are from songs we all know but they gave them all their own version. That’s what they stand for. Pure love for music converted to a whole new level.
After getting the crowd pumped up, it’s time to release the inner beasts. Heavy metal songs such as: Breaking the law, Holy diver and the trooper are great, but those three songs combined into a medley is just phenomenal.
Their whole set also causes spontaneous breakdowns and circle pit’s throughout the entire venue. What can they do even more to make their shows unique? Well, bring your own mascotte and let him bring out the fire.
“Fire you say?” Well, it’s mostly smoke, but he does figuratively bring out the fire to the crowd. He did all that in a tremendous way during the song: ‘Gangnam style’, and if that wasn’t enough yet, he came back later again to go for a round of crowd surfing and participate with the public. What an animal he is indeed!
As a Dutch band it’s only natural to play some foreign songs too of course. This they did by bringing a tough version of the song: ‘noodgeval’, originally written by Goldband.
If all that is not enough yet, you should stay until the end of the show. They finished their set with song: ‘Salsa Tequila’. a perfect ending to this band’s show.
To put it all together, Pene Corrida is a band you should have seen just once in a lifetime at least. They bring songs we all know with a very unique concept that it makes their entire performance outstanding. That’s what this band stands for and they will never, ever get of track with their vision in music. It is why they are one of the most influential bands of the moment.
