Monday reflections – the lonely lighthouse
There was once a lonely lighthouse, standing firm and steady against wind, rain and stormy waters. Taking in everything the sea threw at it, while still standing strong.
The light it shone across the bay, made boats and vessels find their way. Made seagulls fly around the top, and from time to time, made people stop.
One person in particular, because the tower was a home for her. She lived in the house across the road, where she awaited her husband’s return home.
A woman in her late forties, who had a husband who’s a sailor of the seven seas.
Every morning when he was away, she hoped that his return was going to be today.
And every evening that he wasn’t there, she looked outside, with an empty stare.
Staring at the old light house. Her steadfast companion. The only thing that was.
There when she felt alone, and found comfort in his old stones.
Hoping that tomorrow might yet be the day, that her husband finally finds his way.
Back to her, to their place. To finally hold him and see his face.
Because, after all, what makes love stand strong, is the connection between the two correct souls.
