Monday reflections – Remembering your strengths.
Lewis sat quietly at the bay, looking straight ahead at the open sea. Having recently lost his ability to do what he loved to do; creating art and making memories for himself and for others, he had no idea how to get through this difficult times.
The rise of technology has made his life both easier and more challenging in the past decade. He even lost his job and was now overthinking how he could bring his life back on track.
Having being a drawer of plans, he had been working with both his creative mind, and his engineering skills. But last week, his boss told him that he was not going to be needed anymore.
He sighed softly while watching in front of himself. His phone lit up. A notification from yet another social media app on his phone. He tried to swipe it away, and in doing so he went into his phone. The artificial intelligence app he had been using for months by now, was still opened up. He looked at it, rolled his eyes and chuckled sarcastically. “You have no idea what you’re doing right now.” He said softly, with a little bit of anger in his voice, and wiped the app away from his screen.
Looking back up, he saw the last rays of sunlight softly slipping away behind the horizon. And that’s when it came back to him: Art is something personal. A computer program can now create almost everything that a person asks for. But the idea still comes from a human mind.
He took his notebook and a pencil and started drawing that sunset he just saw happening in front of him. And while doing so, a soft smile appeared on his face. Knowing that his capabilities might still come in handy some time.
