The freedom beyond a legacy.
We all enter this world, knowing nothing about the history of our family. Some of us carry the DNA of generations before us, while others may not share any DNA with the family that raises them.
A child playing with blocks, building imaginary structures, without even knowing where that fascination comes from. Or a six-year-old girl dancing, perhaps even better than her parents ever could. Unaware that somewhere in her family tree, there once was a wonderful dancer before her.
We are born with no knowledge of what came before us. And sometimes, the paths ahead of us are still blurred, while others may already have been laid out.
We grow up, learning about life from our parents, from our ancestors, and from the teachers who help shape the next generation.
During that time, we create our own unique story. One we might have been carrying inside us all along, or one that has nothing to do with what came before us.
Our parents might have created something to pass on to the next generation. But what matters most is choosing our own path. The one we love most.
One sells jokes, the other one music. One became one of Belgium’s most legendary goalkeepers, while another dominated the fields during the winter months. And yet another sold carpets for a living.
They all chose their own paths and left their mark on the world. But that doesn’t mean the next generation has to continue what their parents or grandparents laid out for them.
What matters is that they make a living doing what they want to do, without the burden of carrying a legacy on their shoulders.
