Jake’s open air 2024

It’s that time of the year again. The time in which we are spending most of our free time outdoors while the summer gives us its best shot.
It’s the time of the year in which we are also going to outdoor festivals and concerts and they take place around the entire world. Some are known globally, while others are only known by the locals. These smaller events have a smaller audience, but at the same time this audience is more diverse. The perfect ingredients to spice things up.
At Jake’s place, they know exactly how to do that. During their birthday weekend they then also manage to focus on this broader audience by focusing on specific genres, split up over the amount of days.
At the opening day the public they focused on had the perfect mix up in their favorite genres with 7 DJ’s filling each other in smoothly with upsweeping music that made the crowd sing, dance and move along while having the time of their lives.
Festival day:
On the second day of this year’s event it was time for some tougher competition. Some sort of battle between bands that fought not against each other, but against a standstill in the audience.
All bringing their own unique styles and talents along with them to make sure the crowd has a great time and experience.
Rudlon:
Opening this day started heavy with rudlon. They bring heavy songs with a funny twist.
There’s not too many people yet, but that is no issue for them. They do what they do in their own style while having fun on stage. The perfect way to heat up the audience for a day filled with live music. Rudlon’s songs then also have the perfect ingredients for getting the crowd excited.
While Rudlon is playing their show, the crowd slowly starts to get bigger. A perfect opener for what’s yet to come.
Blackout Protocol:
An Intro with smoke and the sound of a blackout that indicates that there is something coming our way and we have to make sure we’re safe in time. That’s what this Five headed metalcore band with darker influences brought with them correctly. A blackout procedure is also implemented in their name and lyrics, with guitar solos to make it even more powerful.
Also included: fast forward pieces of metal combined with slower paced heavy breakdowns. What more does a true metalcore song need? Right, just that!
While on stage; make sure the crowd sees and hears you well. Identify yourself as a band. It’s something important that blackout protocol does perfectly.
While they are a metalcore band, they do also have some stoner metal influences in their songs which makes them more than just a metalcore band just bringing you songs, but also include their own style in their songs. That’s what makes a band unique.
Rather than just playing a bunch of songs of their own, they also smash some great covers into their set list which is a perfect way to make a name for yourself and for the crowd to go wild on their favorites. The first mosh pit also becomes reality during one of their songs
After a smashing impression they then also finished their set with a banger to make sure the crowd is swept up for the following band.
The Old Farts:
Some of us had the chance to see them a couple of months ago at Roxy Fest. There they played a great show, so the expectations are that they will play the roof off again.
Starting off their set with: ‘won’t get fooled again by the who.’ The old farts show that they are Performers in heart and soul.
The frontman never fails when it comes into making the crowd pumped up. Also thanks to the band in its whole for making their set an absolute success.
Putting in a jimmy Hendrix song into their set, because that’s an absolute must. Especially purple haze.
All the classics this band performs are brought to you with absolute honor. And they do so with pleasure. That’s a certain thing.
Breakfast at midnight:
Those guys are no strangers in the field. They have played multiple shows over the past few years and we’ve recently also had the chance to interview them in real life.
They are only a two headed band, but they don’t need anymore musicians when they are performing. The two of them have a chemistry together that absolutely works so they perform a brilliant set with just the two of them.
Luckily for them there’s also more audience while the evening takes over. Therefor they have more fun on stage with a lot more people to entertain.
They are living proof that less is more. With only two man performing they are still able to play the roof off.
Ending their set with frontman and singer/ guitarist Sten Veiths playing guitar in the middle of an upsweeped crowd.
Silverblade:
While the evening is still young, Silverblade joins the stage and lets the day slowly turn into the night.
Silverblade is a five headed band that brings rock covers to its fullest. The covers they bring are all from songs that are imprinted in the collective memory of every person that has even the smallest part of music in their soul.
Their performance here is, as always, a great show and a reminder that covers are also worth playing. These guys then also bring those in a brilliant way.
The Gerry Springer Show:
As the sun sank away behind the horizon and the night has come, the land became dark and the music more rebellious. Well, rebellious might sound a bit overreacting, but these fellas do what they’re supposed to do: bring music we all love and do it in a way they love.
With songs varying from the 90’s and 00’s, it’s impossible to not yell them along as they bring out the best of them.
If you’re a millennial, you grew up with these songs and then you certainly know all those lyrics from the start till the end and possibly backwards too. These guys managed to make you feel like a teenager once more, and honestly: isn’t that something we all need from time to time?
The Monkey Punks:
Last one to perform here tonight also don’t need an introduction. They do what they do best: go out there and play the roof off.
With a variety of songs and performance they have the ability to make the crowd go wild. The perfect way to end the outdoor live shows.
They finish the live shows in style, but the party’s going on further into the night with an indoor afterparty. A beautiful way to end a perfect day filled with music and joy.
