Beyond the frame: look beyond what you see.
If you look at this picture, what do you see? A piece of wood? A swirl perhaps?
You’re absolutely correct of course. But what if you look closer? Deeper? Do you see something otherworldly? Something that is not on our planet, but still in our solar system?
Wood is something we see every day. Trees, branches, a table or a chair, perhaps. It’s such an ordinary part of our environment that we barely stop to think about it. Yet trees themselves are essential to life, producing oxygen and shaping the world around us.
Trees are among the oldest living beings on Earth, having survived countless crises and extinction events. They were already here on that fateful day when something from beyond our atmosphere struck our planet and completely changed the course of life on Earth.
And today, they’re still here. Some standing tall, others just beginning to grow from their seeds, but all playing the same essential role in life: providing precious oxygen to the world around them.
Now, looking back at this picture. If we travel beyond our atmosphere, we become that tiny blue dot circling our star, the Sun. Along with us, seven other planets circle that same Sun.
The biggest of them has something on its surface that might look surprisingly similar to that ordinary pattern in the wood. A giant storm, raging for countless centuries.

A reminder that the things we take for granted are not guaranteed to be there forever. Not on our planet, not in our own lives, not even in our solar system and beyond.
Therefore, pictures like this — an ordinary knot in a piece of wood — can remind us of the millions of years of evolution that brought us here. Life is the most precious thing we have, and we must do everything we can to protect it.
So sometimes, it’s worth looking beyond the frame and seeing what’s truly there.
