Beyond the frame: Just passing by.

Have you ever wondered what life is like aboard a vessel passing by?
Not just a small boat. A real vessel. One that carries more than just its own steel.
Cargo. Bringing it from point A to point B.
But where is point A?
And where is point B?
Where did it start its journey that morning?
How many locks has it already passed? How many bridges has it sailed underneath? How many people have watched it pass by, just like I did?
And perhaps more importantly: who is on board?
For us, standing along the water, it is just a vessel passing by. We might look at it for a few seconds before continuing whatever we were doing.
But for someone else, this vessel might be their workplace. Perhaps even their temporary home.
While we see it passing through our world, someone aboard is looking back at ours.
Maybe that’s something we have in common.
We are always going somewhere.
To work. Back home. Somewhere familiar. Somewhere we’ve never been before.
Sometimes our journeys last only a few kilometres. Sometimes they take us across countries.
And every now and then, two completely unrelated journeys cross each other.
Just for a moment.
A vessel on the water.
A cyclist beside it.
Neither knowing where the other came from or where the other is going.
And then, a few seconds later, both continue their journey.
