When people talk about their dream house, it doesn’t always have to be about a large mansion with seven rooms, four bathrooms, a large garden and a pool overlooking the bay.
Sure, that last part — overlooking a bay — does sound wonderful, though. I also believe a view like that can have an impact on your life, slowing everything down for a few minutes as you silently stare into the distance.
Sometimes, a small cabin in the mountains might have exactly what you need in life. The silence of nature surrounding you. The knowledge that there is no one nearby to disturb you. And the simple fact that, when the last rays of sunlight disappear behind the horizon, you can sigh and softly whisper to yourself:
“This is the life.”
Now imagine that wooden cabin being transformed into a stone house with character?
A place where you’ll pass by, see the house and think: it’s not that big, but it does look as there is someone living who enjoys the simple things in life.
With a small garden surrounding the house, complete as if it actually does stand somewhere in the hills of Spain, France, or even Italy?
Something like this for example:
Wouldn’t that be the dream for every creative person who likes to wander off in their thoughts while silence is surrounding them easily?
A garden that doesn’t acquire too much work. Or even a bit more wilder, rather than perfectly ordenend rays of small trees and low stone walls that form a walking path.
The beauty of owning such a place is that you can make it perfectly comfortable for your own needs.
And make the complete place perhaps look like this:
Now imagine an artist living in this place. Gathering its inspiration and making its work from all the creativity that comes from sitting in that wonderful lounge around sunset, quietly watching out for anything and nothing in particular. Waiting for another view to be painted, a song to be created or a story to be written.
That’s the kind of feeling that I myself get from imagining sitting in that lounge, quietly overlooking that wonderful bay and the silence in the distance ahead.
