Echoes of a dying world is a metal band based in Mol (Belgium), consisting of old members from Exoto, Oceans of Sadness, Brutal Exposure, and Mittgard.
Longing for total musical freedom, the band is not easy to be categorized, and they’re not shy about experimenting with influences and styles.
In December 2021 their EP; ‘Before the fall’ was released.
Expanding their musical horizon even further, Echoes of a dying world are currently working on the release of a full album, hoping to release this one in April 2023.
Their EP; ‘Before the fall’, starts off with the voice of an angel, but don’t be fooled by this heavenly singing. It quickly turns around and becomes a heavy drum piece, with killer guitar riffs in the background. This marks that the album definitely will not be something for the faint-hearted.
The pace of the first song also makes you start headbanging immediately and you’ll know that this probably won’t stop anytime soon.
After a few minutes, the first melodic guitar riff becomes reality, which marks the standards of the album; Brutality combined with the pureness of music.
The second song picks up right where the first song ended, which will show that the album is a complete picture and not just individual songs. The purpose of a real album.
Despite the fact that it is just an EP, and only counts three songs, the band succeeded in making clear that less CAN be more. You only need to give it your best shot.
The last song of the album starts off with a beautiful, clean voice and a technical drum piece. Again a reminder that the does not only focus on brutality. This is also a piece that will automatically bring the lyrics up front. Perfect to get them stuck in your head and sing them along the next time you listen to the song.
Ending the album with those exact lyrics and a perfect short, but heavy breakdown makes sure the entire album became a masterpiece. For being an EP, this is clearly one that makes get hungry for more songs of the band: Echoes of a dying world. Their name suits the album perfectly.
