No Man’s Sky: A village under the stars; Chapter one.
What can you do when you have accomplished everything in your life already? You have traveled everywhere you wanted to travel. Seen so many beautiful places throughout the galaxies. And talked to so many species in the universe.
What is there more to do than those things in life? You can try and find your place amongst the stars. The place where you can live peacefully for the rest of your life. Sure, that would be something nice. But what if you have accomplished that part also, already?
Zandr woke up out of his daydream with that question in mind. He had everything his heart desired, so what was there more to do for him in life? Did he simply just laid low for the rest of his existence? Enjoying the breathtaking scenery from the terrace of his dream house? Doing nothing anymore for the rest of his life and just relaxing all day long? He didn’t feel that way. Zandr always had felt there was a greater purpose in life. Something that could not only benefit him but also a lot of other people too.
“If only I could imagine what I could do for them?” He had asked himself this question many times before, and never found the answer to it. He stood up and decided to go for a short flight, so he stepped into his spaceship and flew off. Hovering over the peaceful waters and mountains of his home planet, gave him the rest he needed over and over again.
Everywhere he traveled onto the planet it had a unique, beautiful piece of landscape. He thought about continuing to build houses around this planet. That could benefit many species, he thought, and just when that thought went through his mind he gained another brilliant idea. He had seen that others had started building towns. “What if I do that here on this planet? An entire town complete with everything for everyone.” He wandered off in his thoughts and saw himself walking through a small village. On the side of a mountain, but with a view over the water. He woke back up and said to himself: “That’s it! A small village in the most beautiful place on this planet. That would be just amazing.” He started looking for a place immediately.
After a couple of days of searching, in which he had tried out a couple of places and destroyed everything to start from scratch on a new place again, He thought: “This part is a bit more challenging than I expected it to be.” He had just started his engine again from a place where he had stayed the entire night and now was on his way again to continue his search, when suddenly he stopped. His eyes widened as he saw a mountain range that gently turned into a beautiful beach and bordered a lake, which flew into the ocean.
Zandr landed his ship a bit further on the mountain range and went back to the place that just had caught his attention. Overlooking the ocean waters, he saw the town rising up in his thoughts and knew immediately that this was the place he needed to be. He placed his base computer and started building immediately.
It took him a bit more time to figure out how he wanted to build the town and therefore decided to do this one in parts. “Building an entire village, after all, takes more time than just building a house alone.” He said softly to himself.

When the sun had been away for quite some time already, Zandr decided to quit for the day. He put away his gear and decided to take some rest. Overlooking the village one last time, Zandr gained a smile on his face again. The same one he gained after he had finished building his dream house, but this time it wasn’t only out of pride, but also out of joy. The fact that other ones were able to have a house under the stars gave him a warm feeling. The feeling of doing something good.
At the break of dawn, Zandr stood up and continued his work. He had made some plans last night just before he went to sleep and decided to continue with that part immediately.
“Building a village, after all, is more than just building random houses.” He thought. An entire community needs to live together here, so therefore they need to feel welcomed and at home. That’s why Zandr had decided to build the village in parts, and this was part one. The most important part, he thought, cause here everyone needs to come together and interact with each other. So the village square needed to be perfect.
As he continued building, he also took a lot of pictures. Those ones, he saved those on his computer, in order to give people a view of what he was building. Overlooking the pictures now, he felt a shiver running down his spine. He felt proud of himself about what he had started doing here, and honestly, it just felt right. “Some things are just better than when you imagine them.” He said softly to himself as he wiped away a tear from his cheek. A tear of pride and happiness.
Now all he wanted to do first, was make the people feel welcome here. And how could that be done better than by giving them a place to call home? A place where they would feel loved, and a place they never want to leave anymore.
